Warner’s will be celebrating Earth Day on Friday and Saturday, April 21st and 22nd with a series of events, demonstrations and more. Here’s Jenna to tell you all about it!
Friday, April 21 (Earth Day Eve)
- At 3:30 pm, we will have a Rainwater Harvesting class with Chris Whitney, who runs the Warner’s landscaping crews. There are so many great reasons to harvest rainwater. It reduces potable water use and related costs, as well as off-site flooding and erosion. Rainwater is a clean, salt-free source of water for plants. Limitations of water harvesting are few and are easily met by good planning and design, which Chris can help you with!
Saturday, April 22 (Earth Day!)
- 10 a.m. Seminar on Pruning with licensed arborist Mick Henry, an ISA Certified Arborist and
the owner of Mick’s Tree Service, LLC. Mick has more than 25 years of local experience and often provides training for homeowners, Master Gardeners, and landscapers. Join him for a presentation and demonstration on how to properly prune and provide care for your trees. Brochures on various topics from the International Society of Arboriculture will be available. Come with questions and leave with answers!
- 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Meet the Experts. We’ll have Warner’s expert team members from each department available to address your questions. Learn about seeds and best methods to ensure garden success; visit our “Garden Pharmacy” and let us help solve your plant problems; learn the basics of houseplants in “Tropicals 101” and get your perennial, annual, vegetable and bare-root questions answered in our bedding department.
- 11 a.m. – The ABC’s of Growing Trees. This special Mud Club event for young gardeners will teach children about the upcoming Arbor Day and the benefits of growing trees. There’s a $5 fee and each child will get a 1 gallon Spruce or Austrian Pine to take home and plant.
